About the event

Fruit Salad - For people at all stages of their journey!

This is a casual meet up for trans, non binary, intersex, and questioning people. Whether you’ve been out and proud for years, or are just beginning to question your identity, you’re welcome here.

This is a safe space for you to have coffee, meet new people and make new friends. Our team is happy to greet you and introduce you to other people. We’re easy to spot - we’re the table with all the mini pride flags!

The team running this event are all various flavours of trans, including non binary, trans femme and trans masc. The team also includes folks who are neurodivergent, intersex, and disabled.

FAQ

Do I have to be non binary / trans / intersex to attend? Not at all. Everyone is welcome, but you have to respect the fact that this is a space for trans, non binary and intersex people. Avoid assuming anything about a person’s gender or sexuality based on their body. Here is a handy guide on how to be an ally to trans and gender non-conforming people: https://www.glaad.org/transgender/allies

I'm not sure if I'm non-binary/trans enough to attend. There's no such thing! We have a huge range of genders and gender expressions here and this is a friendly environment for everyone.

Do I need to book? Not at all, you can just drop in whenever! If you’re nervous or have any questions you’re welcome to message us on social media or email tartproductionsox@gmail.com beforehand.

Why are does this event specifically include Intersex people? Whilst being intersex is not neccessarily linked to being trans or non-binary, intersex people aren’t often represented within the cisgender binary system. We wanted everyone who doesn't conform or identify with this to have a safe and welcoming place to relax, have fun, and make some new friends. One of the event organisers is intersex, and they wanted to make this event welcoming for people like them too.

How are you making this event COVID-safe? We are asking everyone in attendance to please take a lateral flow test before attending. Also if you are able, please wear a mask when moving around the venue.

Why is this space necessary? There aren’t a great deal of queer, and more specifically trans, events in Oxford. We need safe, inviting spaces where we can express ourselves without fear of harassment and be celebrated for what makes us different.

ACCESSIBILITY

The building has step free access and this will be a seated event; the main door is not power assisted. There is no accessible toilet on premises, but the venue advises there is one next door for use. The available toilets in the venue are step free and are trans friendly (they are labelled "ladies/gentlemen or whatever"). There are a variety of vegan milk alternatives on offer, and vegan and gluten free cakes. The venue plays background music but it is quiet. The venue uses fluorescent lighting. If you have any specific accessibility requirements please get in touch on tartproductionsox@gmail.com.

POLICY

This is an inclusive space that welcomes people of all ages (18+), genders, sexualities, races, religion and identities.

We will not tolerate any kind of homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, ableism, fatphobia, biphobia, femmephobia, interphobia, or non-consensual touching. Any behaviour of this sort will result in expulsion from the event. Treat everyone with respect and we'll send that love right on back to you
